HospiScript Resource Center

The mission of the HospiScript Resource Center is to improve the standard of patient-centered care in the fields of hospice, palliative care, pain management and geriatrics.

The purpose of the HospiScript Resource Center is to provide drug information to support the educational needs of healthcare professionals and our internal clinical staff. In addition, an academic component of the resource center is designed to allow pharmacy practice students and residents to develop drug information skills and improve their utilization of drug information resources.

The HospiScript Resource Center strives to provide evidence-based, accurate, and unbiased drug information to healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses and pharmacists. We provide information on prescription, over-the-counter medications, and complementary and alternative medicines; guidance on disease state and symptom management for patients with life-limiting illnesses; and hospice-specific patient medication information and instruction guides.

The Resource Center also develops and distributes the biweekly HospiScript Clinical Literature Update abstracting service and the monthly Clinical Literature Update - Physicians Edition via email and fax.

In the past we have provided drug information responses related to:

· Geriatric drug concerns and toxicity risks

· Herbal supplements safety and efficacy reviews

· Renal dosing and dialysis guidance

· Off-label indications and routes of administration

· Comparative effectiveness medication reviews

· Federal and state pharmacy laws

· Assistance in development of hospice medication use policies

· Drug shortages and recalls
